How NameClicked works
You describe what you're naming. NameClicked generates or takes your candidate names, scores each one with the reasons shown, and helps you compare a shortlist. When you're close to a decision, a Full Assessment checks domains and screens UK trade marks. You don't need an account to start.
What you provide
A sentence or two about your product, service or business: what it is, who it's for and what makes it different. Plain language works best; “an app that splits bills between housemates” beats “a fintech app”.
Optionally, open Add more context to list competitors or similar products, words to avoid, words or sounds you like, the personality you're after, who it's for and your industry. Competitors are especially useful, because every name is checked against them. If you already have ideas, choose I already have some names and enter them instead.
What NameClicked analyses
With Find names, NameClicked generates around 20 candidates in different styles, from descriptive to invented, removes the weak ones with quick tests, and keeps the strongest 5 or so. Names you enter yourself are always kept and scored the same way.
Each name is assessed on three questions:
- Is it a good name? Memorability, spelling, pronunciation, distinctiveness, searchability, relevance, suggestiveness, imagery, emotional appeal, room to grow, unwanted meanings, language problems and similarity to your competitors.
- Can I get it? Domain availability.
- Can I build on it? How protectable it looks, and similar UK trade marks.
Serious problems, such as an offensive meaning or a near-identical trade mark, cap a name's score so they can't be averaged away. See how NameClicked scores a name for the full model.

What you get back
Each name appears as a card with:
- an overall score out of 100 and a recommendation, from “Strong candidate” downwards;
- separate scores for desirability, legal usability and availability;
- a short assessment, with the main strengths and concerns;
- any critical flags, and every criterion's score, explanation and evidence source.
Free results say clearly which checks haven't been run. A Full Assessment produces a report that ranks your names, shows the domain and trade mark results, and suggests a next step for each. Reports are private; you can create a share link, replace it or stop sharing at any time.
What you do next
- Shortlist the names you like, and add your own ideas to compare against them.
- Run a Full Assessment on your best two or three names.
- Test the finalists with real people; see how to test a product name.
- Secure the name: domains, handles, company name and, ideally after professional clearance, a trade mark.
